Value of Planning
Panic and fear is the enemy of sound judgment. Fear comes from ignorance of our situation. Knowledge is
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and the Consumer Federation of America surveyed (5/7/12
to 5/20/12) a representative sample of 1,508 financial decision makers nationwide. The survey, conducted by
Princeton Survey Research Associates International:
- 55% say “it’s hard for me to know who to trust for financial advice.”
- 52% say “to me investing seems complicated.”
- 55% say “I’m worried about losing my money if I invest it,” (up from 45% in 1997)
- By a margin of 52 percent to 30 percent, planners (people across many income levels who have developed a
financial plan) are more likely to feel “very confident” about managing money, savings and investments.
While Integrated Financial can educate you in many areas besides simply
planning, a coherent financial plan forms the backdrop for all financial decisions as it forms the foundation for
our first responsibility, caring for ourselves so no one else has to. Creating a plan through the use
of contemporary and cost effective tools can be easy, inexpensive and
valuable, but you need to know which are the proper tools in order to gain those benefits. It does not only cover
investments, but college planning, home purchase and financing, life and other insurance, etc.
If you are reasonably versed in finances and simply want to do it yourself, we can refer you to the best
sources at no charge (we are not compensated for making any software recommendations). If
you find the task daunting or too time consuming to set up and want someone to walk you through the process,
Integrated Financial can educate you. We don't perform a complete plan with recommendations for you, but illustrate
the primary issues through sampling. In the end you will know what you need to understand, why you need it and how
to get it. Or if you prefer someone else to do such analysis for you, armed with proper knowledge you can
effectively evaluate their skills and use their services with confidence.
But since the actual reason to plan for our future is to find happiness, any plan needs address our humanity.
When we feel there is a conflict between our financial circumstances and our happiness, we need to investigate to
find the root of the conflict. By using the techniques of martial arts training, invariably the conflict dissolves
when it is properly understood and a proper balance can be struck. At the same time we become more efficient in
pursuing the wholesome goals we set for ourselves. As this is the track towards happiness, any planning process
needs to incorporate these aspects to be genuinely useful.
